Fall Camp Bluebird Sessions Scheduled for October 27 - 28

2010 August - Camp Bluebird, an adult retreat for cancer survivors, will be held Oct. 27 – 28 at Camp Tecumseh’s Leadership Center. The camp is sponsored by St. Elizabeth Regional Health. The two-day, one-night retreat is an informal educational experience in a relaxed nature-filled environment. Open to cancer survivors of Tippecanoe and surrounding counties, a camper candidate is any adult, 18 years or older, who has had a personal cancer experience. Newly diagnosed cancer patients are encouraged to inquire about Camp Bluebird. ( Continued... )

Share Your Cancer Story

2010 July - How has cancer affected you, your family, and friends? What do you want others to know? In anticipation of a visit this fall to Purdue University by graphic novelist Harvey Pekar, author of Our Cancer Year, we invite you to share your cancer story with us. Writers and artists will work with your stories to create a graphic novel, which will be displayed in our Creating Hope Community Exhibit this fall during the Purdue Cancer Culture and Community program. 2010 February - INDIANAPOLIS (February 2, 2010) - The Hoosier Oncology Group, a non-profit, community based, clinical research organization located in Indianapolis, IN, has announced the appointment of Rafat Abonour, M.D., as Chairman of the Board of Directors. In addition, Wael Harb, M.D., has been appointed Chief Community Officer. Abonour takes the helm as outgoing chairman, Nasser Hanna, M.D., steps down after two tremendous years of leadership. Horizon Oncology Center to Participate in Clinical Research Study of a New Investigational Drug for Lung Cancer

2010 February - Lafayette, Indiana, February 16, 2010 - Horizon Oncology Center is now recruiting qualified participants for phase one of a two part clinical research study using the investigational drug MM-121. Horizon Oncology Center is the first of only three study centers in the United States to offer this clinical research study. In this first phase of the research study, study participants with non-small cell lung cancer will be treated with MM-121 in combination with Tarveca ® (erlotinib) – an oral targeted drug used to treat non-small cell lung cancer. Tickled Pink! Event - October 29th

2009 November - The Unity Cancer Center, St. Elizabeth Regional Health, Spirit of Women and the YWCA Woman’s Cancer Program had partnered with Macy's and Lancôme to bring national makeup artist Alex Sanchez to the Tippecanoe Mall. The Tickled Pink! Event offered FREE makeup and breakfast for women affected by breast cancer with national makeup artist Alex Sanchez. The event was held on October 29, 2009, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Lancôme counter at Macy's in the Tippecanoe Mall. Breakfast was provided by Panera Bread.
